at a French patisserie. Your name was one that I’ve known so well, however it was unfamiliar. I’m glad you took your time to get my change, grazing my fingertips as you passed it on. I’m sure I’ll be back for a pastry or three, and I’d be happy to see your smoldering eyes again. Oh, and thanks for the napkins.

between gusts of freezing air
and hurried couples. Of course I noticed you, with your thick glasses and dark scruff, who wouldn’t. Don’t get me started with your outfit. A guy who cuffs his pants (properly and stylishly) and wears probably real leather brogues in real life? Swoon. I just wish it hadn’t taken me

with a coffee-sipping fellow on the side of the sidewalk. You had a cup sitting across from you, but no one filling it. I’d gladly join you for a cup or two, even if it makes my stomach hurt. On second thought, maybe I’ll take tea.

with this guy who I’ve seen around campus. He’s tall, dark hair, has glasses, and is faithful to a trusty messenger bag, all the makings for someone I’d like, but there seems to be more. with a saxophonist playing in Rittenhouse Square. We smile bonded over how odd/persistent those religious “missionaries” try to persuade people. Boy, how he moved those Converses. Weekly Saturday Rittenhouse sessions? Yes, please.
BTW, those black-rimmed glasses looked phenomenal on you.
I seem to fall in love daily; sometimes in small doses, a passing glance, and other times a pleasing encounter, maybe even silent. This will be where I record my “loves”, since these hypothetical situations are certainly better than current reality.
